I’ve been a consultant ophthalmologist specializing in medical retina for nearly two decades. My special interest is in Medical Retina, so that includes wet and dry macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion, diabetic eye disease, as well as other retinal conditions. For me, my work is my passion.
I’m not satisfied until I’ve given it my absolute best. I love helping patients, understanding their individual needs, their difficulties and giving them the best possible treatment and advice. I’m always pursuing the latest treatments, attending leading conferences, and exploring the newest drugs whilst being cautiously critical so that there’s a balance. I’m able to deliver what really works but is also safe. I am on the leading edge.
What Makes Me The Expert?

Apart from my experience in the field of eye care, I’m really keen on auditing my outcomes. I’ve presented my real-world outcomes for patients with wet macular generation that have been on treatment for 3 to 5 years with various different drugs, I’ve presented this data to commissioning boards who needed the real evidence.

Increasingly with the pressures in the NHS these days, patients are seen face-to-face at the start of treatment and then only if difficulties arise. That limits the interaction between doctor and patient and the opportunity to ask and answer questions. Patients are usually seen by a team rather than a specific named Consultant, so you never really get to know your patient as an individual.
